Executive Biography

Susan Dolbert, Ph.D., has spent her career in higher education and at academic medical/research centers, where she has served in many leadership roles. Dolbert is recognized nationally as a thought leader in advancement, with significant experience in both alumni relations and fundraising. She has redesigned staff structures and re-energized boards to the benefit of various centers and institutions.

Currently she serves as vice president and chief development officer at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Previously she served for six years as chair of the Department of Development and chief development officer for Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Under her leadership, the clinic successfully completed capital and programmatic campaigns.

Dolbert has longstanding experience in the development field and also served for eight years as president and director of the Arizona State University (ASU) Alumni Association. Prior to her engagement with Institutional Advancement, she served as director of Undergraduate Admissions at ASU. Dolbert graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Arizona State University with a degree in Political Science-Latin American studies. Both her master’s degree in communications and doctorate in public administration are also from ASU. Susan has received CASE’s Crystal Apple award for outstanding public speaking and is a CASE District VII Tribute Award winner.
