Strategic Planning

Dr. Lee Patouillet, the president of the firm, co-chaired the CASE Conference on Strategic Planning with a colleague from MIT. Organizations should be mission focused, values based and demographics driven. Patouillet Consulting, LLC works with its clients to develop plans with measurable outcomes resulting in living documents which help the organization stay on course and achieve their desired objectives.

Recent strategic planning assignments include Georgia State University, Oakland University, James Madison University, Life University, the Mississippi University for Women and the Belle Terrace Health and Wellness Center. The strategic planning process and template developed by Patouillet Consulting, LLC has been used by more than 20 universities throughout the country and around the globe.

Patouillet led the effort to develop seven strategic plans during his 33 year career as a full-time advancement officer at USF, Pitt and Florida.  One of the plans he directed at Pitt received the CASE Circle of Excellence Award and is used by Harvard’s Business School as an example of effective strategic planning.

Noted leadership expert and Patouillet Consulting Advisory Board member Frances Hesselbein states, “Organizations need a common language creating a common vision leading to common ground. ”

Christina Million, Executive Director, Georgia State University Alumni Association

Patouillet Consulting’s work was integral to the success of developing our plan. They helped direct us and kept us focused on the common goal. In this kind of process, it is easy to get lost in the little things and forget the big picture, and they were able to keep us on track. They shared great examples and materials to spark conversations and discussions. Also, their counsel was extremely helpful because wording can easily be misconstrued and/or overused. The firm provided great insight in the most effective way leading to the completing of the plan. They made my job so much easier, and I am thankful for all of their guidance from start to finish.”

Eric Barrett, Vice President, Development, Alumni and Community Engagement, Oakland University

“I was particularly impressed with Lee’s ability to engage our alumni board members at our retreat this fall.  He took what appeared to be a highly complex and ambitious strategic planning agenda and broke it down into manageable segments that facilitated meaningful communication and participation among all attendees. With Lee’s guidance, I have high expectations for our new vision of alumni engagement at Oakland University.”

Eva T. Blum, President, PNC Foundation and Trustee, University of Pittsburgh

“As a past president of the Pitt Alumni Association, Lee and I worked closely together on moving the association forward. Lee was instrumental in helping us shape a dynamic strategic plan. He always saw the big picture and helped us take steps to make the association attractive to alumni around the world. He is a master at understanding the potential of any organization.”

Greg Harris, Vice President for University Advancement, Life University

“Lee, thank you for your firm’s counsel with the Life University Alumni Association.  We were in need of strategic direction to accelerate the progress we made in the previous term.  Patouillet Consulting provided the guidance for us to discover where we needed to go and how to deliver on the identified goals. The Association Board is jazzed and motivated about the future!”

Allegra Brigham, Interim  President , Mississippi University for Women

Thank you for the excellent work you did preparing for and facilitating the first board retreat for MUW’s newly merged MUW Alumni Association. The results were great! As an outcome of your work, the MUWAA will have a strategic plan, agreed upon roles and responsibilities for board members, guidelines for effective clubs and much more. What a great accomplishment!”
